At Smiley Dental Buckner, our experienced dental team in Dallas, Texas, offers dentures for our patients who have lost teeth and wish to restore their confident, healthy smile. While these custom-made oral appliances are designed to replace missing teeth, they also require proper care and maintenance. Dr. Marcie Bunch and Dr. Minjeong Suk recommend the following tips when caring for your dentures:

  • Your dentures are fragile so if you accidentally drop them, they may break. Remember this when you take them out and put them in. You don’t want them to dry out, as this can cause them to warp, so when you aren’t wearing them, be sure to keep them in warm or cold water (not hot!) or a cleansing solution for dentures.
  • To keep your dentures clean, brush them to prevent them from becoming stained as well as keeping them free from plaque and oral debris. Before you wear your dentures for the day, brush your gums, tongue, cheeks and roof of your mouth with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove dental plaque and prevent bad breath.
  • If you use adhesives with your dentures, be sure to follow the directions for their use. Our dentist can recommend the best cleaners and adhesives to use, and of course, always use a product that carries the ADA Seal of Acceptance to ensure that they are both safe and effective.

Our Smiley Dental Buckner team recommends that you take good care of your dentures as you take care of your smile! If you have any questions or would like to schedule a visit, please give us a call today at 972.616.0060, and discover how we can help you bring back the confident smile you deserve!
